Global brokerage giant Arthur J. Gallagher has announced the acquisition of another firm in Ontario: Encore Insurance Services, also known as Encore Group.
Encore Group is an insurance brokerage firm primarily serving commercial clients in Ontario operating in the manufacturing, construction, and financial institution sectors.
This is Gallagher’s fourth acquisition in Ontario since the summer of 2023. The most recent transaction involved a brokerage firm in Sault Ste. Marie, acquired in December 2024. As with this previous transaction, the terms of the Encore Group acquisition have not been disclosed.
According to the acquired firm’s website, Encore Group, whose sole office is located in Waterloo, was founded in 2001 by veterans of the independent brokerage industry, including Joe Dalton. In December 2021, Scott Heaman joined the company as president.
In the press release issued by the acquirer on January 6, Gallagher noted that Dalton, Heaman, and the rest of the team will remain in their roles. The brokerage will report to Dave Partington, Gallagher’s CEO of property and casualty brokerage operations in Canada.
Arthur J. Gallagher is headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. According to its president and CEO, J. Patrick Gallagher, Encore Group’s expertise “complements our existing retail brokerage capabilities in Canada.”
In addition to property and casualty insurance products, Encore Group also offers specialized insurance products sold through the finance offices of various retail businesses.
Its clientele includes businesses in the automotive and recreational marketplace, as well as commercial lenders, mortgage facilities and line of credit providers.
