A recent poll asked Canadians what kind of work they would be willing to for an extra $200.
An online survey of more than 1,500 Canadian adults conducted for Scotiabank found that 79% of the respondents would be willing to complete some "extreme household chores" in return for $200:
- 31% said they would perform pet-sitting duties for 10 days
- 23% said they would wash dishes by hand for 100 guests
- 17% would prepare tax returns for five family members
What would they do with the extra money? Almost one-third of those surveyed (32%) indicated that they would save the money, while about the same number (34%) would use the money to pay down debt.
Scotiabank says it chose the $200 benchmark because it corresponds with the average annual cash back reward for its no-fee Visa credit and debit cards. "Almost a third of respondents (29%) say they make specific plans for the cash back they earn each year," concludes the poll. "This figure is higher among men (32%) and those between the ages of 18-34 (34%)."
