In under one year, Sun Life Financial’s national healthcare provider ratings network has received more than one million responses from clients, announced the insurer May 31.

The network, launched in late 2016, is an industry first, says Sun Life. It allows close to three million of the insurer’s clients access to search and contact peer-rated healthcare providers, such as: chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, chiropodists, naturopaths, osteopaths and psychologists.

Ratings shared with other clients

Clients who submit a paramedical healthcare claim are invited to rate the service provided on a scale from one to five. Those ratings are then shared with other clients who may be looking for providers in their area.

In addition to racking up more than one million ratings in nine months, the network has provided ratings on more than 65,000 providers covering all provinces and territories, says Sun Life. The network also appears to be gaining momentum with a 60 per cent increase in rating activity in the first quarter of 2017.

"Give a voice to our clients"

"Last year, we set out to help Canadians manage their health by removing one of the most common obstacles they faced – finding a trusted healthcare practitioner," said Chris Denys, Senior Vice-President of Possibilities, Digital Health Solutions, Sun Life Financial Canada. "As the leading group benefits provider in Canada, we harnessed the power of the Sun Life community to create the ratings network and give a voice to our clients who are inspiring each other to take charge of their health and well-being."
