Dean Connor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Financial, announced on Dec. 14 important changes to the company’s executive team.

Kevin Dougherty, currently President, Sun Life Financial Canada, will become Executive Vice-President, Innovation and Partnerships. This is a new role created to accelerate growth through innovation. He will be responsible for digital health solutions, an insurance research lab, external innovation, accelerating data analytics capabilities and use of artificial intelligence. He will also be responsible for reinsurance business activities.

Jacques Goulet will take over from Dougherty as President, Sun Life Financial Canada. Goulet is joining Sun Life Financial from Mercer, where he is President, Health and Wealth. In his new role, Goulet will be responsible for the company's group benefits, group retirement services, individual wealth, insurance and investment management businesses in Canada. Both appointments are effective January 15, 2018.

New Head of Investment Distribution

Furthermore, Sun Life Global Investments announced Dec. 15 that Jordy Chilcott, will join the company as the Head of Investment Distribution. Chilcott has served as Senior Vice President of Global Asset Management, Scotiabank, and President and Chief Executive Officer, Dynamic Funds.
