Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life have released their public accountability statement, outlining how the companies operate in a socially responsible manner.

“Our companies strive to improve the financial, physical and mental well-being of Canadians,” says Stefan Kristjanson, president and chief operating officer, Canada. “This is our purpose and the reason why we do what we do. The 2017 Public Accountability Statement highlights examples of how we positively impact the well-being of Canadians in communities across the country.”

The highlights include:

  • Contributing $3 million in community support to health-focused initiatives
  • Being ranked the top Canadian insurance company (with an A- rating) by the Carbon Disclosure Project for its commitment to environmental sustainability
  • Recycling 67 tonnes of cardboard, 116 tonnes of compost and 976 tonnes of paper
  • Raising $2.2 million for charity by employees
  • Being rated one of Forbes Canada’s best employers
  • Supporting more than 750 education, health, arts and community initiatives
  • Donating at least 1% of pre-tax profits as an Imagine Caring Company
  • Donating $13.5 million in community funding across Canada in 2017
