On Monday morning, President and CEO of Humania, Richard Gagnon, announced to staff that he will leave the company. He will finish up at the company by the end of the year.

Mr. Gagnon told The Insurance and Investment Journal that this was solely his decision. "I've never been in favor of long terms of 20 to 25 years within an organization, he said. I’ve led the company for 13 years and have now 60 years. The strategic plan is delivered, especially the distribution of life insurance on the web and expansion in the rest of Canada. I think that after 10 or 15 years, a new adrenaline and leadership thrust is always good for business," revealed Mr. Gagnon.

New CEO by mid-November

Informed of his decision a few months ago, the board initiated a process to find a new leader, something that should be done by mid-November, the company said.

What are the plans of Mr. Gagnon? "I am not leaving to accept another position. It is rather a gradual retirement. I would rather continue to help develop businesses but to do so by helping leaders. I'm already on some boards," Mr. Gagnon said.
