Sun Life Financial has appointed Randolph Brown to be its chief investment officer. He will oversee the investment operations of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada and its general account, which had assets of approximately $135 billion as at Sept. 30, 2015.

Before he joined Sun Life Brown worked at Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management, where he was global head of insurance and pension solutions and head of asset and wealth management for the UK region. Prior to this he served as Deutsche's co-chief investment officer, overseeing a staff of 750 and $1.2 trillion in assets, and he was also the head of Deutsche Insurance Asset Management, managing money for insurance companies with over $200 billion of assets under management.
