In the interest of improving access to automobile accident benefits for victims, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) says it has revised the Application for Accident Benefits (OCF-1) form. The regulator says it will allow a six-month transition period, until May 7, 2025, during which insurers can accept both versions of the OCF-1 form.

FSRA says the changes to the form were made in collaboration with industry stakeholders and the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC).

The now five-page form is intended for those applying for new benefits related to an incident – “you haven’t applied for benefits related to this incident before,” the form states. It collects information including accident details, the applicant’s working history and probes for the existence of other insurance payors.

“The revised version of the form is easier to understand, quicker for consumers to complete and offers an improved customer experience,” they state. “As of May 7, 20254, only the updated form will be available for consumers looking to file for accident benefits.”
