On August 5, Manulife Financial announced that it is adding three mutual funds to its lineup: the Manulife Global Dividend Fund, the Manulife Global Dividend Class, and the Manulife Global Strategic Balanced Yield Fund.

The Manulife Global Dividend Fund and Dividend Class will invest primarily in a diversified portfolio of high quality dividend paying global equities. Manulife says that the funds’ mandate is unrestricted, which will allow the portfolio managers to invest in the most attractive investment opportunities throughout the world. The fund aims to provide a yield premium over the MSCI World Index by focusing on companies that compound cash flows and grow earnings. The portfolio managers will be Paul Boyne and Doug McGraw at Manulife Asset Management.

As for the Manulife Global Strategic Balanced Yield Fund, it will buy high quality, undervalued global dividend stocks as well as a diversified portfolio of global fixed income securities. The fund will invest across the spectrum of fixed income securities of global issuers of any quality and term. Manulife says that the fixed income component has "maximum flexibility" to reposition holdings at different points in the credit cycle to mitigate downside risk and capitalize on opportunities. Paul Boyne and Doug McGraw will manage the equity portion of the fund, while John Addeo, Dennis McCafferty, Endre Pedersen, and Daniel S. Janis III of Manulife Asset Management will manage the fixed income portion.
