Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services (iA) and Sun Life Financial have recently appointed new members to their boards of directors.

iA announced on December 12 that it had appointed Emma Griffin to its board. Griffin resides in Montreal and is the co-founder of two companies in London, England: Oriel Securities, a mid-market brokerage firm and investment bank and Refined Selection, a holding company that is active in the recruitment and professional services sector. iA notes that its board, which is chaired by John LeBoutillier, now includes 15 administrators (including 14 independent members) and 40% of the members are women.

On December 15 Sun Life Financial appointed Stephanie Coyles and Greig Woodring to its board of directors effective January 1, 2017. Coyles is a consultant working with various clients in North America, including retail, consumer distribution, private equity and business consulting organizations. She was previously Chief Strategic Officer at LoyaltyOne Co. and a principal at McKinsey & Company Canada. Woodring has four decades of U.S. and international experience in the insurance business; he is the CEO of Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), which he joined in 1979.

Sun Life says that Coyles will serve on its Governance, Nomination & Investment Committee and the Audit & Conduct Review Committee while Woodring will serve on its Risk Review Committee and Management Resources Committee.
