Former premier to head Medavie

Following the departure of Pierre-Yves Julien, Medavie has appointed Bernard Lord to be CEO. He will begin on Sept. 1.

Lord served as premier of New Brunswick between 1999 and 2006. Having sat on Medavie's board of directors for the last 8 years, his thorough understanding of the health care system has helped to shape the vision of the company, which focuses on group insurance.

Track record of innovation

"Bernard’s leadership, vision and track record of innovation make him the ideal leader to help Medavie strengthen its position and realise its full potential," says Michael Decter, chairmain of Medavie’s board of directors.

Lord will work from the company's head office in Moncton, from which he will oversee the activities of Medavie's subsidiaries Medavie Blue Cross and Medavie EMS.
