Empire Life announced June 15 that it has launched a new website to educate Canadians on financial planning and investments.

The insurer says the new site “answers the most common questions that Canadians have at different life stages about life and money, and helps them connect with a licensed life insurance advisor in their area who can help them with their investment questions and needs.”

The site, called Life & Money Matters, includes articles, videos, tools and calculators to help consumers better understand their personal financial situation. For those seeking advice, it offers a "Find-an-Advisor" feature.

Connecting with advisors

"Research confirms that investors with an advisor accumulate 3.9 times more assets than those who do not have an advisor," said Mike Stocks, Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer at Empire Life. "We hope to help more Canadians get answers to their most common questions and connect them with an advisor to improve their savings." says Stocks.

Citing a 2016 LIMRA research study, Empire Life underlined that consumers grade themselves poorly when asked about their ability to save enough money to have a comfortable retirement. "27% of consumers give themselves a failing grade when it comes to saving for retirement and many of them feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start," says Stocks. He says the insurer’s new website can help them get started toward improving their knowledge in this area.
