Chuck Roth Retires from MackenzieBy Andrew Rickard | August 25 2015 01:06PM
Chuck Roth, a long-time portfolio manager at Mackenzie Investments, is retiring. The company has formed a new group of investment researchers and portfolio managers to take over his responsibilities as well as several other investment mandates.
Mackenzie announced on Aug. 21 that it has formed the Mackenzie Systematic Strategies Team to assume lead management of the Mackenzie Canadian Large Cap Growth Fund, the equity component of Mackenzie Canadian Large Cap Balanced Fund and a number of institutional accounts on Sept. 30, 2015
The changes were announced at the same time as Chuck Roth's retirement; Roth has been with Mackenzie since 1997, and managed both the Mackenzie Canadian Large Cap Growth Fund and the equity component of Mackenzie Canadian Large Cap Balanced Fund. The company has indicated that Christopher Sit, an associate portfolio manager who worked with Chuck Roth, will move to the Mackenzie Growth Team on Sept. 30, 2015.
Rick Weed, who joined Mackenzie Investments on July 15, 2015 as Senior Vice President of Investment Management, will lead the new Systematic Strategies group. Mackenzie notes that he has extensive experience leading investment teams and managing investment strategies by applying both systematic and fundamental approaches. Matthew Cardillo, Vice President of Investment Management and Portfolio Manager on the Mackenzie Systematic Strategies Team, will be co-manager of the team’s investment mandates.
