British investment firm Arete has invested $2 million in Toronto-based underwriting firm Shore Underwriting in early March.

Shore Underwriting specializes in professional liability in the emerging technology and professional services sectors in Canada.

The U.K.-based company’s investments will let the Canadian MGA automate its practices and increase its capabilities. It can thus offer its clients customized solutions and additional coverage. Arete's management team is committed to assist Shore Underwriting not only by investing capital, but also by providing networking and support.

“With this new investment, we can ensure we’re well placed to identify market opportunities and act upon them by developing a strong core of expertise and technology to augment our specialist offering” says Mike Shore, President of Shore Underwriting

This investment expands Arete’s North American portfolio.

Arete's senior partners are active in the insurance industry in the United Kingdom and the United States. Notably they are founders and backers of EC3 Brokers and 1st Watch Global
